Building a Successful Website & Digital Strategy

To build anything that is going to last requires a plan; a blueprint. When it comes to implementing a successful digital strategy, most people don’t plan to fail, they just fail to plan. Our goal is to help you achieve your business goals. To do that successfully, we employ a proven process that has been used to implement hundreds of successful business websites. To begin your journey, familiarise yourself with our process, which we’ve outlined below, then click the button at the bottom of the page to get started by filling out our Website Worksheet.

Consultation

This is by far the most important stage. To begin the process we first ask you a series of questions to uncover why you believe you need a new website and precisely what you want that website to achieve. You may find some of our questions challenging, which is great. We want to get you really thinking about your business goals and how investing in a new website it going to help achieve those goals.

We then spend time learning about your business. You’ll speak with Steve Hobson, who will lead the project. Steve will ask questions to get to the core of what your business does and your current digital strategy needs. The information we gather at this stage will be the basis for everything we do together.

Research

Armed with a solid understanding of the results you’re seeking, we’ll build a visual sitemap so we can all be on the same page about what it is we’re trying to communicate to your potential customers or clients and the best way to structure the information. We’ll also visit options that may be relevant to other aspects of your digital strategy.

Here’s an example.

Prototype

From here we get into the actual structure of your new website. Instead of trying to navigate the minefield of technical jargon to tell you what we intend to build, we’ll instead create an interactive prototype, a mockup if you like, that you can take for a spin in your web browser, to show exactly how our solution will work. It won’t be very pretty, but it’ll quickly get us close to an agreed design. With your feedback, we can then tweak components prior to breaking out the crayons and paints.

This is an example prototype.

Production

This is where the rubber meets the road; the design and web development phase. During this stage we get to play with the paint brushes – and code editors – to bring your interactive prototype to life. We’ll match everything to your brand identity and select imagery appropriate to your business’ culture.

This is that same website fully designed.

During this phase we’ll also begin implementation or deployment of any additional services or tools that we’ve agreed upon for your overall digital strategy.

Stress Testing

This phase is where we disappear for a few weeks to make sure everything is tied down and tested, prior to announcing your shiny new website to the world. At this stage we’ll either deploy your website to your own hosting server, or to our live servers if you’re taking out one of our highly recommended hosting and maintenance plans.

Deployment & Growth

Once your new website has been launched, we’ll proceed with the additional marketing strategies we outlined in the initial plan. During the first 30 days after deployment, we’ll carefully monitor and tweak aspects of your new business website in order to achieve higher traffic and conversions. Following this period we would strongly recommend implementing one of our maintenance plans, which includes monthly monitoring and reporting of your business website’s vital statistics. The reports allow you to make properly informed decisions about additional activities that could deliver benefits in line with your goals.
